Description

Promostone hold the exclusive line of products from the manufacturer Swisspearl, the world leader in high-density, coloured through fibre cement panels. Their exterior cladding panels are commonly used for ventilated facades, the most reliable and optimal system from a building science point of view and for our North American climate. Swisspearl fiber cement panels, which are asbestos-free, also have unparalleled characteristics, as they are rot-proof and non-combustible, highly resistant to weather and UV rays, long-lasting and literally maintenance-free.

 

Swisspearl panels are manufactured in a modern manufactory operated with little energy and environmentally friendly, with high quality Portland cement, synthetic fibers, cellulose-based materials (<6% fiber cellulose) and stable pigments. These exclusive processes developed by the manufacturer with the special treatment of the surface and the back of the plate and the impregnated edges, ensure optimal behavior resistance and durability of the fully pressed panels. The millions of panels installed since 1987 worldwide prove the reliability of the exceptional quality and longevity of their products. 

These products are also mainly made of 100% recyclable mineral materials which can contribute, at the same time, to obtaining LEED certification. Moreover, several of the projects in which we participated have obtained LEED certification, including new building housing, offices of the architecture firm STGM in Quebec City (Platinum level) and the new Roberval detention center (Silver level).

 

A wide selection of these Swisspearl coloured through panels and its finish, are available in 8- or 12-mm thickness, allowing unlimited creativity and possibilities to the architects as well as to meet several desired aesthetic requirements. Since the start, Swisspearl already provided more than 2000 colors ‘à la carte’ according to the designers’ specifications. An anti-graffiti treatment (HR protection) is also available for these panels. 

A fixation system with exposed fasteners is generally proposed for the installation of Swisspearl fiber cement panels. Rivets for metal supports or screws for timber battens of the same panel color, are supplied by the manufacturer. Other fixation systems are also available, among others, such as a hidden fasteners system (Sigma 8 Pro and 12) and a glue system with a structural adhesive (supplied by others) for panels (ASRB ) specially identified and specified for this use.

 

The list of certifications provided by different organizations around the world shown in the <Tests and Approvals> brochure has been audited and verified by the Swiss Construction Products Certification Body (S-CERT AG). This brochure thus indicates the various tests passed as well as their results for obtaining these certifications. Swisspearl panels are non-combustible according to ASTM E 84, NFPA (Class A) and EN 13501-1 (A2-s1, d0) standards, and have a very low level of water absorption and the highest density (1.9 g/cm3) compared to similar products offered on the market by other manufacturers. In addition, Swisspearl panels have passed CAN/ULC S102 (Standard Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies), CAN/ULC S114 (Standard Method of Test Method for Determination of Non-combustibility of Building Materials) and CAN/ULC S134 (Standard Method of Fire Test of Exterior Wall Assemblies).

 

Finally, Swisspearl offers a 20-year guarantee against delamination (spalling), warping, cracking and discoloration for its products (see article 1.10.2 of the specification), and a lifespan of 40 years and more has been certified by the Swiss construction authorities for use for exterior building facades.
